Any ETA yet? Really looking forward to this release!
Hi,
Thanks for asking. What I’m building is much more than simple ball tracking. I have redone everything from scratch, to allow for more performance, portability and possibilities of expansion. The v2 code has been released for a while already, although I still haven’t officially announced it. I am very happy with how it came out, and matches perfectly what I had initially planned and announced.
Now regarding ball tracking, it’s one of the features of this new version. And I am honestly not quite happy with it yet. I understand that without it, v2 looses most of its value, as it relies on the AI tracking to export the video. So bad tracking => bad video.
I need more annotation work, and more time and thinking. That’s why I’ve been pushing the release of v2, and that’s also why I have a hard time giving an ETA.
As of now, I do have an OK AI-tracker. I think I will very soon announce v2 officially, and iterate from there.
Thanks again for the patience and support.
Let me know if I can help with current ball tracking. I have footage from last weekend ready to go
If tracking is key to v2, what does that mean for sports beyond soccer and basketball?
You can use the preview tool, to manually pan, view your video, and record clips.
I’ll soon have actionstitch like projections, to render all the panorama in one video. Not in this Friday’s release, but soon after.
The tracking is quite general, and can track players in a field, regardless of the sport. So for things such as lacrosse, rugby, or even swimming competition lol, it should work well. It’s based on YOLO, so it tracks “persons” and “balls”, given an area you can set in the app.
Can’t wait to see it!
